I am mildly irritated that I had to take down my posters because of a few people who were incapable of taking my project seriously. Luckily, they were up long enough that I have plenty of material to work with for my poems. I'm happy with where my poems are now, and hopefully I'll have some drafts that will be ready for editing!

Plz don't be mad about my double post. I've decided to leave the posters up for this week, too, since I don't need to take them down to use them for inspiration. I'm hoping that since the raffle is over and the tables outside the dining hall will be gone, more people will want to write on the Before I Die poster. If not, then I still have plenty to work with.

Not that I'm trying to make excuses, but this was a really rough weekend for me so I apologize again for the late/double post. Surprisingly enough, I'm not having much trouble writing these poems. I'm fairly happy with what I have so far and I can't wait to spend this next week just writing. What I am having trouble with is keeping my poems from being too similar. For example, I'm trying to avoid all the poems from the "Before I Die" poster from being too similar since they were all given the same prompt.

Wait this might actually work!!!!!!!
I've started drafting a few poems (based mostly off of the Before I Die poster) and it's actually going pretty well. I plan on having at least three completed poems by the beginning of next week. Additionally, I might leave the posters up for a while longer since I won't need to take them down to continue drafting my pieces. At the beginning of this week I was really discouraged at the quality and lack of responses I was getting, which definitely made me worry that I wasn't going to have anything to write about. But, there is hope yet!

I would have posted this blog on time but I was busy going ham on these posters. To allow for ample drying time, etc. I will be hanging up the posters tomorrow (I promise!). It was also surprisingly difficult to find big paper so I'm going to be taping together some of this medium-sized paper. . I definitely underestimated how big these posters need to be and how much time it was going to take to make them, but I think the one pictured turned out pretty well. Ignore the trash in the corner plz.

Reporting from my Saturday Morning Consequence!!!1!1!
Later this afternoon I'm going to stop by the art supply store to get the spray paint (and materials for a backup in case my spray painting idea goes horribly wrong). Hopefully, that won't be the case since I want the posters to be reminiscent of Candy Chang's project. I'm still finalizing all the stencils and if this doesn't work, then I've wasted a whole lot of valuable time. Either way, Sabina and I are trying to figure out when next week we can have the Cultural Coffeehouse/Show and Tell event. The posters will be up by Monday and then all I can do is wait for people to respond.

I am spending/will spend this week making my stencils and posters. I'll be on campus Sunday and will probably hang up the posters then, giving the community the full school week to respond. I'm working on collaborating with Cultural Coffeehouse for the show-and-tell-esque thing I was planning in hopes of getting a larger turnout (or any turnout, for that matter). I'm a bit behind schedule in terms of the posters, since I'll really only have one full week to work on my creative pieces. Hopefully, I'll get good enough responses pretty soon after I hang up the posters so that I can start writing pieces while they're still up.
